About the Royal Brigade

fb_img_1472919990155The Courtland High School “Royal Brigade” is one of the cornerstones of spirit and pride at Courtland High School.  The “Royal Brigade” is a competitive, corps-style marching band that performs during the fall season at varsity football games, parades, and at marching competitions throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.  The “Royal Brigade” is rich in tradition and remains committed to the highest standards of musical and visual performance.

The pageantry of the marching band is enhanced by the Color Guard.
This group combines dance with visual implements to help express the overall concept of the show. Color Guard is open to any student at Courtland.
Auditions are held each year in the Spring.

Involvement in the “Royal Brigade” is an outstanding part of any student’s musical learning. It helps to build life skills such as teamwork, cooperation, responsibility, and leadership. Additionally, active participation in marching band contributes to a student’s overall positive self-image which will, in turn, help them toward higher self-esteem.
Most importantly, participation in the “Royal Brigade” Marching Band will generate friendships and memories that will last a lifetime.

Membership in the “Royal Brigade” is open to any student enrolled in a music class at Courtland High School. We encourage you to get involved and we look forward to welcoming you as a member of our band family at Courtland High School.
