AP Music Theory is a fast paced, advanced level course for experienced musicians. Students will be trained in collegiate concepts of written theory, melodic and harmonic dictation. Students are expected to perform sight-singing examples, recognize aural stimuli through ear training exercises, and compose music following traditional Western music guidelines. The course is designed to prepare students for the AP Music Theory Exam given during the Spring semester.
The Summer Assignment will be due on the first day of class and will be counted as an exam grade. Students are to complete the workbook, Practical Theory Complete by Sandy Feldstein, available at Roberson’s Music and a number of online outlets.
