Good Morning! Welcome Back! I hope everyone a had an enjoyable and restful Spring Break.

Here are this weeks Notes, Updates, and reminders…

Congratulations to the Winter Guard on their 8th Place finish at AIA Championships this past Saturday at Mt. Vernon High School. There were 21 guards in a very competitive CGSRA2 Class and only 5 points separated the top 8 groups. Congratulations on a great season!!!

Winter Drum Line will travel to South County High School this coming Saturday for AIA Percussion Championships. Their preliminaries performance will be at 11:56 AM. WDL members and parents should check their email for the itinerary and for information about the event. Good Luck to all the Students and staff!!!

Spotsylvania County Winter Showcase will be held on Tuesday, April 10th, at 7:00 PM at Spotsylvania High School. As we have done in the past, this event will benefit The Spotsylvania County Treasure House. Please, remember to bring a donation to help homeless families in Spotsylvania County.

If you are going on the Spring Trip, and have not made your final payment, please do so as soon as possible. Email me if you have any questions. We will have two rehearsals, 4/18 & 4/25 from 2:30-3:30, to run through music for the trip. I will have a detailed itinerary that I will send out toward the end of next week.

District Solo and Ensemble Festival will be held on April 24th and 25th at Stafford High School. Students who are interested in participating should see Mr. Leonard to sign up. There is a cost to the students – $5 per solo, $6 per duet, Trios or larger are $2 per student. The deadline to sign up is this Friday, 4/13. Students will receive a scheduled time and are responsible for thier own transportation to and from Stafford High School.

Our first Music In The Parks event is coming up on Saturday, April 21, 2018. For those of you who do not know, we serve as a host site for Music In the Parks Kings Dominion Music Festivals. Bands, Choirs, and Orchestras from all over the east coast come to CHS to perform at the MITP Festival before heading to Kings Dominion for a day of fun. We have six dates that we are hosting this year – 4/21, 5/5, 5/12, 5/19, 5/26, and 6/2. We typically need help running the site from 7:00 AM – 2:00 PM. Some days are a little longer, some are a little shorter. We need 5-6 parents to help with various things like registration, stage manager/announcer, parking, and concessions. Parents can sign up in CHARMS. We also need about 10 students to help with various things throughout the festival. Student sign-up sheets will be posted on the board in the front of the Band Room. This is a great fundraiser for us (last year, we made close to $10,000) and we need to continue to run a great site so we can continue to host in the future. Thanks!
