Volunteers are still needed for the Knights of Pythias Bingo each week. Please sign up in CHARMS if you are able to help out. The Knights of Pythias donate $500 a month to the Courtland Band Program for helping with their Bingo events on Sunday afternoons and Monday evenings. You can also earn points to help pay for Band Fees (Marching Band, Winter Activities, Class Fees, Trips, etc.). This is not limited to RBMB Members and their families. Any member of the CHS Band Program and/or their parents can sign up to work. These donations helped us purchase the new uniforms for the Marching Band. Our next goal is to get new “uniforms” for our Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, and Wind Ensemble.
On Tuesday, August 8th at 7:00 PM, we will hold a meeting and training session for all parents who are interested in serving as chaperones during the 2017-18 school year. We have updated our chaperone procedures and policies for the upcoming year. If you plan on chaperoning, or think you might like to chaperone, you must go through the training in order to be eligible to chaperone. If you are interested, but can’t make it to the meeting on the 8th, please let Mr. Leonard know.
Have a great week!!

Just a couple of things going on this week…
We will have our first summer rehearsal on Tuesday, the 27th, from 6:30-9:00 PM.

Events for the week of June 11th, 2017
EXAM WEEK!! Students will be taking the second half of their Final Exam this week during their assigned exam block. Unless the students get approval from the Administration, they must take the exam during the scheduled time. We finished all but a few of the scale tests last week. The remaining portion of the test consists of the prepared etudes that were assigned to the students.
Students are reminded to take all personal belongings, including instruments, from the Band Room and Instrument Storage Rooms once they are finished with their exams. We will be doing a major clean-out and inventory of school-owned equipment. If you are in Marching Band, you still need to take things home at the end of the school year.
ALL Students should practice over the summer. Stay in shape. Keep working on scales, rudiments (percussion) and technique. Play a little bit every day to develop and maintain tone quality and endurance. Remember, we will be doing chair placement auditions in Concert Band and Wind Ensemble during the first couple weeks of school. The auditions will consist of scales, a short prepared piece, and sight reading.
If you have not turned in your paperwork/forms/deposits for the 2017-18 Royal Brigade Marching Band, please do so ASAP. I talked with our Drill Writer over the weekend and we have a couple more days before he needs our final numbers. So, it is not too late to get signed up. Turn your forms/deposits into the safe(Blue Box) in the Band Office. Our first rehearsal is on Tuesday, June 27th from 6:30-9:00 PM.
